Budget battles: Communications Minister Shlomo Krei announced today (Tuesday) that he will oppose the state budget, which will be brought to a vote in the government on Thursday, due to disagreements with the Finance Ministry.
The minister wants to use the fees paid by cellular companies to the state, amounting to hundreds of millions of shekels a year, in order to expand cellular reception throughout the country. The Treasury, on the other hand, wants the money to go into the state coffers. In addition, for several days Minister Kari has been seeking to speak with Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich about the issue, without success so far.
