Four people, including two girls, died Thursday afternoon in a head-on collision on Provincial Route 13 in Cordoba, near the town of Villa del Rosario.
A 47-year-old man, who lives in El Arañado, was traveling in a Toyota Hilux pickup truck and was accompanied by his partner (40) and three minors, aged 14, 8 and 2. Meanwhile, in the Peugeot 3008 - a medium-sized sport utility vehicle - the driver was a 46-year-old woman, who was traveling with her two daughters, aged 15 and 13.
The impact resulted in the death of the passenger of the van and the 8-year-old girl. The driver of the Peugeot and her 13-year-old daughter, who was in the back seat, also lost their lives.
The other occupants of both vehicles suffered injuries of varying degrees and were taken to area hospitals, where they received medical assistance.
Experts are working at the scene together with police and fire personnel, initiating the investigation that will seek to determine the causes of the incident. The main hypothesis is that the accident was caused by a bad lane change manoeuvre of one of the two vehicles.
