Due to the wind, two people were killed in Oregon after trees fell on their homes. According to the National Weather Service, freezing temperatures were recorded that reached a perception of 28 degrees below zero in Arkansas, 22 below zero in Dallas and 51 degrees below zero in Montana. Rapid City, South Dakota, hit its previous record low of 30 degrees below zero. And low temperatures are expected to hit most of the country throughout the middle of the week.
"These wind chills will pose a risk of frostbite on exposed skin and hypothermia," the National Weather Service said, recommending carrying a cold weather survival kit for those who have to travel.
