Meeting at the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, of the permanent table dedicated to the distribution, trade and consumer goods industry sectors to take a final assessment of the "anti-inflation quarter".

An initiative which according to Mimit was "a success".

There are 37 associations and 31,500 points of sale that have joined the initiative.

"The anti-inflation quarter has demonstrated its full effectiveness" declared the Minister of Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, on the sidelines of today's meeting, "I thank all those who participated: the 37 associations and the over 31,500 participating sales points of modern distribution, traditional trade, pharmacies and parapharmacies, production and processing companies, Made in Italy brands and large international brands. Thanks to this collective effort by the Italian System, citizens have had the opportunity to access a basket of high quality products at blocked or calmed prices, with a positive impact on the dynamics of the inflation rate".

In detail, Mimit explains in a note, "in the period in which the initiative was developed, a more significant overall reduction in the inflation rate was recorded in Italy compared to what happened in Europe. The trend inflation (which therefore emerges from the comparison with the same month of the previous year) recorded in December 2023 was equal to 0.6%: a particularly low figure, continuously decreasing compared to 0.7% in November and 1.7% in October, compared to 5 .3% in September, before the initiative began. Analyzing the dynamics of the so-called "shopping cart", i.e. food, home and personal care goods, a significant reduction trend is also noted, going from 8.1% in September to 5.3% in December".
