The Senate has given the green light to the inclusion of the right to voluntary termination of pregnancy in the French Constitution.

A historic and not obvious decision, given the majority of centrists and right-wing senators.

The green light is without any changes to the text approved by the Assemblée Nationale.

"I am committed to making women's freedom to resort to voluntary termination of pregnancy (IVG) irreversible by inscribing it in the Constitution. After the National Assembly, the Senate takes a decisive step which I welcome.
