Only in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern live fewer people on one square kilometer - therefore play in Brandenburg wide landscapes a large role. Good for all tourists and excursionists who want to escape from the Moloch Berlin or beyond the state capital Potsdam. At the same time, the state is also considered the richest in water in Germany - with as many as 3,000 natural lakes, the artificially created Lusatian Lakeland and the larger Havel and Spree rivers.
2018 made only 4.6 million German holiday in Brandenburg, states Statista. By comparison, in smaller Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, there were 7.47 million. The federal state, which completely surrounds Berlin, is varied: water sports enthusiasts such as sailors and paddlers will find their territories, cyclists a flat road network, nature lovers at least 15 large nature reserves - including biosphere reserves on the UNESCO World Heritage List - and culture-minded castles such as Sanssouci, Rheinsberg and Boitzenburg.

Brandenburg, the land of castles, manor houses and aristocratic residences, can be reached along the 180 kilometer long Märkische Schloss tour.
