The Commission for Supporting and Developing Local Production and Exports announced the approval of the mechanism of supporting export contracts signed on the sidelines of the 61st session of Damascus International Fair by 100 percent for land and sea freight.
Director of the Local Production and Exports Support and Development Authority, Ibrahim Meda, said in a statement to SANA that the mechanism of supporting the shipment of exports for contracts concluded on the sidelines of the exhibition was approved after the approval of the proposals of the Economic Committee, which was discussed several days ago on the grounds of the exhibition city.
The MEEDE subsidy mechanism includes 100% subsidy for the cost of shipping goods exported by land or by sea in accordance with contracts signed on the sidelines of the exhibition “ie free shipping” in parallel with raising the “value of subsidies” from previous years to 20% of the value of exports of agricultural products. The value of exports of other products reached 14% last year.
To clarify the figures and ratios mentioned between Mede “When we say 100% subsidy for exported goods, that is to say, the Authority pays full shipping costs by land or sea to the beneficiaries of subsidies, but when we talk about the proportion of 20 or 15% is meant to be related to the value of exports in general "The cost of shipment can not be more than 20 percent of the value of exported goods, so we have increased the subsidy margin, which is a big margin for exporters and for their benefit," he said.
The mechanism specified the required documents for obtaining the freight subsidy. It is represented by the export subsidy application form approved by the Export Development Authority, a certificate of origin, a bill of lading paid, a cleared customs declaration, an invoice certified by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry or Agriculture, a copy of the contract concluded within the period of the exhibition and a letter from The General Organization for Exhibitions and International Markets proves the company's participation in the 61st session of the exhibition and a pledge from the concerned person confirming the validity of all data and information by him.
Meda pointed out that after submitting the above-mentioned papers, the Authority is studying it in preparation for the preparation of disbursement orders as assets of the beneficiary company.Finally, shipping charges will be paid according to the prices approved by the committee formed for this purpose.He pointed out that the beneficiary exporters are responsible for the validity of all forms and documents submitted to them by the committee.
All applications submitted to benefit from the support are accepted from 28-8-2019 to 6-10-2019, according to Mede, who explained that a month has been granted to accept applications to allow everyone to benefit from the support, especially contracts that have been communicated between companies but not signed only After the show.
Mede pointed out that the aim of the subsidy mechanism is to increase the access of Syrian products to foreign markets on the one hand and increase their competitiveness on the other hand, since free shipping would reduce the cost on the source supplier and thus give the goods the ability to compete with those in the target markets, especially that the products Syrian is known for its good quality and acceptable price.
