Ryanair pilots in Germany are first paid by collective agreement. However, because flexible wage components are eliminated, the salary increases are likely to be only modest.

The pilots of low-cost airline Ryanair stationed in Germany get a salary agreement for the first time. At the same time, because flexible wage shares are being melted down, the bottom line is only slight increases in total salary, which were not quantified.

Further annual increases until the end of the term in March 2023 were also agreed. This was preceded by several strikes and lengthy negotiations.

He also envisages increased net incomes from next year, because then the approximately 400 employees can pay income tax under German law. This was announced by the pilot union Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) in Frankfurt.

So far, the tax has been collected at higher rates in Ireland, where the company is based. In order to be able to use German law, Ryanair transfers the aircraft stationed in Germany to the subsidiary "Malta Air". The local tax law allows income tax payments in other EU countries. The VC had originally demanded to establish an independent flight operations in Germany.

Agreement on social plan

Already in December, the parties had agreed on cornerstones. Co-pilots could expect a doubling of their gross fixed salary to 50,000 euros per year, it said in papers of the tariff commission. For captains, it was up to 33 percent to initially 100,000 euros high. At the same time, flexible wage shares are eliminated.

The agreement also includes an agreement on a social plan for the closure or reduction of bases. Negotiations are still open about the formation of a works council and the shell rate.

Ryanair is also running pilot strikes in other European countries, most recently in the UK. Ryanair initially did not comment on the deal, which VC members still have to vote on.
