She renounced for personal reasons to another term, said the car maker. Supervisory board boss Norbert Reithofer said that he had accepted the decision "with understanding".
Caiña-Andree's contract is according to Group circles until the middle of next year. She has been on the Human Resources and Social Affairs Board for seven years. The 56-year-old was previously hiring manager at DB subsidiary Schenker.
Whether the Supervisory Board will decide on succession at its upcoming meeting is open. Since the appointment of Oliver Zipse to the new BMW boss, the post of production director is also vacant.
In addition, the release of the former BMW purchasing director Markus Duesmann should be an issue that changes to the VW Group and could become head of Audi. His contract would only allow that in a year.
According to manager magazin, quality manager Milan Nedeljkovic could become Zipses successor as production director. The head of the BMW plant Dingolfing, Ilka Horstmeier, is the favorite for the position of Chief Human Resources Officer.
