Crash-Jet 737 Max: US air surveillance is reluctant to readmit

2019-09-24T05:19:47.514Z

The US aviation authority is reviewing the readmission of Boeing 737 Max, but is itself massively criticized. That's why each country should now decide for themselves whether the machines can ever take off again.

The problems with the 737 Max not only burden the balance sheets of the aircraft manufacturer Boeing but also the US economy as a whole. When the machines are again allowed for air traffic, is still in the stars.

The US aviation authority FAA said that it is currently impossible to tell exactly when the jets could start again. "We have no time frame when the work will be completed," it says in a statement. Safety is the top priority.

The security problems with the 737 Max have also plunged the authority itself into a crisis. This is due to revelations that FAA have left significant parts of the original certification of the 737 Max to the manufacturer Boeing itself. The FAA therefore wants to cooperate with the re-admission with governments and aviation supervisors of other countries. Please ask for "feedback" from other states involved in the case.

Europeans announce their own tests

One thing is already clear: the aircraft manufacturer can no longer rely solely on the FAA decisions at the time of readmission. Each government will have to decide for itself, depending on thorough safety checks, whether the machines that have been banned after two crashes can withdraw - the FAA confirmed this on Monday after a meeting with other supervisors in Montreal, Canada.

In the past, international authorities generally followed the US line. The European aviation authority EASA has already announced its own tests.

Just under $ 150,000 for the bereaved

Boeing's best-selling aircraft, after two crashes that killed 346 people in October and March, was banned from launching. The main cause of the accidents so far are errors of a control automatic, which Boeing wants to fix by software update. So far, however, the manufacturer did not progress as hoped, instead, there were other problems.

Meanwhile, Boeing has set up a compensation program for victims of the plane crashes in Indonesia and Ethiopia. The families of the 346 people killed in the disaster should each receive around $ 144,500. This was reported by Boeing's compensation fund.

In many cases, victims of the crashes of Boeing's 737 Max aircraft in October and March lost their lives in court against Boeing. The group is confronted with allegations of neglecting the safety of the 737 Max. The main cause of the accidents so far is a faulty software.
