The health authorities had previously stated that three people had died from Listeria in sausages produced by this company over the past two years. One woman had a miscarriage. As a result, the controls had been tightened.
According to the Ministry of Health, a total of 300,000 kilograms of meat are now being recalled. "This is a serious incident, which is now being cracked down," said Minister of Health Bruno Bruins. Initially, the company had recalled only a portion of the products on Thursday. Now it's all about 250 products.
So far, there are no indications of a connection to the Listeria case in Germany. The death of two elderly people in southern Hesse is associated with the germs.
According to findings of the Robert Koch Institute, there would be a causal relationship between the German deaths and the consumption of sausage products. In addition, 37 other cases of illness on sausage products of the company Wilke could go back. The prosecutor Kassel also investigates in the case. For Wilke products is currently running a worldwide recall.
