Postbank's roughly 12,000 employees receive more money and are protected against redundancies until 2023. Deutsche Bank's subsidiary and the Ver.di union have agreed on a new collective bargaining agreement providing for salary increases of three percent from November 2019 and another 1.75 percent from January 2021. The exclusion of redundancies has been extended by two years and is now valid until June 30, 2023.
The deal was a "very good signal" in uncertain times, said Ver.di negotiator Jan Duschek. The Postbank negotiator, Britta Lehfeldt, spoke of a "sustainable compromise" that meets the interests of employees and companies. It is now important for the bank to remedy the consequences of the strike as soon as possible. Ver.di had repeatedly called for work stoppages during the wage dispute.
According to the union, Postbank employees can choose whether salary increases should be paid out or converted into free time. The agreement must still agree to the Ve.rdi members at Postbank in a ballot. The tariff commission of the union has unanimously recommended the adoption of the collective agreement.
