The US government ended fiscal year 2019 with the largest budget deficit in seven years as rising spending and growing debt service payments overshadowed tax revenues.
The US budget deficit widened to $ 984 billion, equivalent to 4.6 percent of the country's gross domestic product, compared with the previous year's deficit of $ 779 billion, or 3.8 percent of GDP, Reuters reported.
The deficit hit an all-time high of $ 1.4 trillion in 2009.
