Changan Ford Automobile Co., Ltd. recalled 548,876 vehicles from the Chinese market due to defects in airbags.
The recall, announced by the company, includes 344,872 Mondeo vehicles manufactured between January 4, 2013 and October 11, 2016, and 20,3004 EDGE vehicles manufactured between January 4, 2013, Xinhua quoted the State Administration of Market Regulation as saying in a statement on its website. September 2014 and June 9, 2017.
The department added that the reason behind the decision is that the air bags in these cars were equipped with blowing tools that do not contain dried materials, which may lead to fragments in the event of the explosion of air bags in the event of a collision, which poses risks to the safety of drivers and passengers.
The company, a joint venture between Chinese carmaker Changan and US automaker Ford, said it would solve the problem free of charge.
