Deutsche Bank must hand over US President Donald Trump's tax records to committees of the House of Representatives. This has been decided by a district court in New York. But Trump's lawyers can appeal within a week.
Two Democratic-controlled panels had requested Trump and his family documents on the finances as a punishable threat. They want to prove that possibly money flows from Moscow via Deutsche Bank to Trump have flowed.
Already in May, a New York court sentenced Deutsche Bank as Trump's house bank to hand over the documents to Congress. However, the lawyers of the president appealed. There are currently a number of lawsuits involving the release of Trump's financial information.
The case could end up in the Supreme Court
Trump's lawyers argue that there is no legal basis for documentary inspection. For a long time now, Deutsche Bank has taken the line in the question of fulfilling all legitimate requirements and reacting to corresponding requirements. However, it is likely that the dispute over the release of the documents could ultimately end up in the Supreme Court.
Germany's biggest money house had given Trump, who was still working as a real estate entrepreneur, before his presidency high loans. Many other institutes had not done that anymore. According to documents Trump owes the Deutsche Bank Trust Company Americas at least 130 million dollars in connection with real estate projects.
