Neuhauser Strasse in Munich was the most frequented shopping street in Germany on the first Sunday of Advent. Exactly 202,431 people walked through the pedestrian zone, which runs from the Stachus in the direction of Marienplatz, around 3300 visitors more than on Saturday of the first Advent 2018. In second place follows the Kaufingerstraße (188.630 people), the extension of the Neuhauser road. Third place goes to Schildergasse in Cologne with 169,290 pedestrians.

The figures were obtained from hystreet.com, a Cologne subsidiary of the fund company Aachener Grundvermögen. Previously, such data was collected manually via a click counter. Instead, Hystreet uses laser scanners attached to house facades, creating a kind of light barrier that measures all passers-by above 80 cm in size. The devices are currently installed at 107 locations in 50 cities. "Some white spots" will still cover, says co-CEO Julian Aengenvoort.
The hourly retrievable values are available free of charge on the Internet. Hystreet wants to develop a business from the interpretation of the data, the survey is harmless under data protection law. The figures show, for example, that the Germans shop late, the peak values are after 15 clock.
Also popularity trends can be read: In Hamburg, the Jungfernstieg lost in November compared to the same month last year inflow, minus four percent, while the already well-attended Spitalerstraße increased by three percent.
