Sparkassen customers in Hesse and Thuringia have been annoyed by bank transfer problems for days. Salaries could partly not be booked. The responsible bank offers compensation.

IT problems at the Hessische Landesbank Helaba have led to problems for savings bank customers in Hesse and Thuringia for days. When booking transactions, there is another delay, which particularly affects payments from savings bank customers to banks outside the financial group, said Helaba now. "This can affect tens of thousands of customers."

The outstanding cash flows would be handled at full speed, emphasized the Landesbank Helaba, which is the partner for 49 savings banks in Hesse and Thuringia. Customers would still have to adjust to delays. "In individual cases, it may take until the end of the week to receive the funds from the customers." The current payment traffic is not affected and runs without restriction, according to Helaba.

Bank promises refunds

Customers who have suffered financial losses will replace Helaba with proof of damage, the institute said. For this Sparkassenkunden would have to address their house bank. A form is available on the Helaba website. Customers of financial institutions outside the savings bank group can claim their damages directly from Helaba.

Many savings bank customers have had massive problems with their accounts since Thursday. For consumers, due credits such as wages and salaries were not recognized, resulting in a series of complaints. Affected were SEPA credit transfers, direct debits and card transactions. Helaba started booking missing payments on Friday. The disorder itself is solved.
