Gold fell slightly today, amid a lull in market activity in general before the statement of the Federal Reserve (the US central bank) on economic policy.
According to Reuters, gold fell in immediate trading 0.1 percent to 1463.20 dollars an ounce (ounce), as it fell in US futures transactions by 0.1 percent to 1467.40 dollars.
The Federal Reserve will release a statement on its policy meeting for December later today.
As for other precious metals, palladium rose 0.2 percent to $ 1899.67 an ounce, after exceeding an important level at $ 1900 an ounce for the first time yesterday, while platinum fell 0.3 percent to $ 918.88 an ounce, and silver lost 0.3 percent to fall to $ 16,60.60 an ounce.
