Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak announced that at the conclusion of consultations between Russia and Ukraine and the European Commission in Berlin, a detailed draft of the agreement for the transit of Russian gas through Ukrainian territory was drawn up.
And the website "Russia Today" quoted Novak as saying that "the parties hope that the final agreement to extend the gas contract will be coordinated in the near future," noting that the gas protocol project is now "in a high degree of readiness."
Novak pointed out that the negotiators agreed to specify the quantities of gas to be pumped, the terms of the next transit contract and the dates for signing its agreement between the parties concerned.
For his part, Deputy President of the European Commission Maroc Shevchovich stressed that Russia, Ukraine and the European Union have reached an agreement in principle on pumping Russian gas through Ukraine, noting that the two parties will not reveal the details of the agreement pending the completion of its drafting and approval before the official signing.
