The American group PepsiCo announced Wednesday that it would gradually deploy the Nutri-Score label on its products sold in France from April, then in other European countries.

" We want to start quickly with our brands (cold soups) Alvalle, (chips) Lay's, (seeds) Bénénuts and (breakfast cereal) Quaker, " said PepsiCo France Managing Director Olivier Péchereau, quoted in a press release. Introduced in France in 2016 and extended to other European countries, the Nutri-Score is an optional labeling system based on five letters (A, B, C, D, E) and a color code, from green to red , depending on the nutritional quality of the food.

“ PepsiCo wishes to join in and support this system by rapidly deploying it in France, a pilot country for the group, then in the European countries which have officially adopted it. By the end of 2021, more than 350 references will already carry the Nutri-Score on the French market alone , ”explained the company in its press release. The labeling system " will allow us to pursue our ambition and to evaluate our efforts to optimize our recipes even more from a nutritional point of view ," assured Olivier Péchereau, "according to the press release.
