The Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform has extended the funding of farmers with nitrogen fertilizer until the end of next March instead of the 28th of February as scheduled.

The director of plant production at the Ministry of Agriculture, Eng. Abdul Moeen Qadamani, stated in a statement to Lana, "The state of the wheat crop is good and there were no recorded insect or fungal infections affecting it," noting that 94 percent of the irrigated crop and 88 percent of Baal had reached the stage of encroachment.

Qadmani said that extending the period of financing farmers with nitrogen fertilizer for winter crops until the end of March aims to enable all farmers to obtain nitrogen fertilizer and spray crops in the second batch.

The areas planted with wheat reached 135,242 hectares, with implementation of 75 percent of the planned plan, including 581793 irrigated and 770 thousand hectares, Baal said, according to Qadmani, who indicated that the implementation of the wheat plan is still continuing with daily follow-up by the ministry and its directorates in the governorates.

While the area planted with barley yield reached 1.5 million hectares, as it exceeded the planned plan of 1.4 million hectares.

According to Qadmani, the total area cultivated with legumes amounted to 159,555 hectares, including 110,977 hectares of lentils, 27,719 hectares of chickpeas, 15,283 hectares of fava beans, and 5,576 hectares of peas, indicating that the rate of implementation of the medicinal and aromatic crops plan amounted to 101 percent by planting 79,717 hectares of cumin, anise, bark and coriander.

Qadmani pointed to the cultivation of 10,558 hectares of the spring buttonhole potato plan, with a 55 percent implementation, indicating that the quantity of marketed cottonseed has reached 74,484 tons so far to Hama, Homs and Aleppo gins, an increase of more than 22,000 tons from last season.
