Bad news for Scrabble fans: since Friday, the CRISCO online dictionary of synonyms has been unavailable. On the site, a press release explains that the decision to suspend access to this popular tool for lovers of the French language is justified by a social movement against the bill for the multi-year research programming.

" We, members of the CRISCO laboratory, express our concern and our vigilance " in the face of this law, write the personnel mobilized. Recalling the " principles which guarantee the proper functioning, quality and influence " of the missions of teaching professionals, they call in particular for a " return to a balance between teaching and research " and ask the authorities to take into account the " Real needs expressed by the scientific community ". Access to the dictionary will not be restored " as long as the ministry has not engaged in a real process of consultation with the actors concerned by the future law ", warn the authors of the text.

The impugned bill was announced in early February by Edouard Philippe. At the time, the Prime Minister had specified that the multi-year programming law should " initiate, over the long term, the transformations that our research needs to meet " his ambitions, while giving researchers " time , means and visibility ”. Some unions believe, however, that this text is not ambitious enough and will not make the sector sufficiently dynamic.
