Istanbul-Sana

The Turkish lira fell today to its lowest level since September 2018 by 8 percent and lost about 10 percent of its value since the beginning of this year, with growing concerns about the increase in cases of coronavirus in Turkey.

Reuters reported that the Turkish lira amounted to 6,985.6 against the dollar, down from 6,580.6 last Friday and heading for the sixth drop in the last eight sessions.

The Turkish currency has lost more than 3.5 percent of its value this year after it fell about forty percent during the past two years as a result of high levels of foreign debt to Turkey in light of the reckless economic policies of Recep Tayyip Erdogan's regime.
