"That is to say (that) one employee in five in France in companies or associations is partially unemployed," said Muriel Pénicaud.

Four million French employees are currently part of the adapted partial unemployment scheme put in place by the government in response to the crisis arising from the epidemic of new coronavirus, according to the Minister of Labor Muriel Pénicaud, interviewed on Franceinfo. " That is to say (that) one employee in five in France in companies or associations is partially unemployed ", in the private sector.

This figure is clearly increasing. The day before, Wednesday, Muriel Pénicaud had indicated at the end of the Council of Ministers that 337,000 companies, or 3.6 million employees, had filed a request.

The partial unemployment scheme provides that the employer pays its employees compensation corresponding to 70% of their gross earnings, or even 100% for employees on minimum wage or less. The State will then reimburse businesses in full for salaries up to 6,927 euros gross monthly, i.e. 4.5 times the minimum wage.

The Minister of Labor also specified the conditions under which the exceptional bonus reserved for those who must, despite everything, go to work will be paid. This bonus will " allow to pay 1000 euros without conditions, without payroll taxes for employees and employers, " she insisted. However, this premium is not compulsory. Finally, the government is working on a way to " welcome efforts in the public sector ". Will it be, as in the private sector, an unconditional premium? No answer for the moment: " the Prime Minister will announce it in due time ", swept Muriel Pénicaud.
