The city of Brest has started distributing food stamps to families whose children benefit from free or reduced meals in school restaurants, for a total amount of more than 300,000 euros, she announced on Monday.

The beneficiary families are those for whom the meal in school restaurants is completely free for their children, ie 1,181 children concerned within 774 families, specifies in a press release the city directed by the socialist François Cuillandre.

2,200 children concerned

Families for which the meal is billed at the lowest rate, ie 1,036 children in 660 families, will also be able to benefit from these vouchers, which cover the period from the start of confinement until the end of April. In total, more than 2,200 children enrolled in public schools in the city are affected out of the 6,500 who eat breakfast daily in school restaurants.

For families benefiting from total gratuity this represents a check for 150 euros per school child, and 120 euros for those benefiting from the lowest rate. An identical system has been put in place for families whose children attend kindergarten and elementary school in Diwan schools teaching in Breton and private under contract.

" With the closure of all schools and confinement, children who had lunch at lunchtime in school restaurants in the city now have lunch every day with their families, " explains the metropolis, which has started distributing checks in mailboxes. letters.
