Coronavirus: call to strike of the CGT of trade and services

2020-04-06T16:36:46.750Z

The CGT of trade and services calls the employees of these two sectors to strike from Wednesday to demand protective measures which it believes are " sorely lacking " in the face of the coronavirus crisis, AFP learned this Monday from this federation.

We are paying a high price for the inaction of the government and the employers in this crisis. Employees work seven days a week for needs that are far from all absolutely essential but for which they risk their lives, "said Amar Lagha, secretary general of the federal office of the CGT Trade and Services. This decision was taken after consultation with all CGT unions in the two sectors, he said.

The absenteeism rate is enormous, there are deaths and our role is not to count them. We are asking for a real security airlock but we don't get along ”, he added, adding that all the employees of the large distribution but also those of security and services in general are called to strike. , " All those who feel concerned by the lack of means of protection ".

Several deaths of infected employees

Faced with our repeated requests, the impossibility of exercising our right of withdrawal, that is enough. We are whistling for the end of recess, "said the union official, whose federation filed a complaint against the Minister of Labor, Muriel Pénicaud, and the management of Carrefour.

This call for strike comes after the announcement of a new death of an employee of Carrefour Bercy-2 in Charenton-le-Pont (Val-de-Marne). The federation deplores on its website " five deaths, several hundred infected employees, some of whom are in critical situations ". The delegate also deplored " the death of a security employee working at Charles-de-Gaulle airport ".

According to Mr. Laghar, the shop stewards of the Charenton-le-Pont store will request an extraordinary meeting of the social and economic committee (CSE) to trigger an investigation through its health, safety and working conditions commission (CSSCT).
