The other 15 Länder (regional states) had taken a similar step last week. With the Berlin decision, it is therefore the whole of Germany which now imposes the wearing of masks in shops. The obligation voted Tuesday by the Berlin Senate relates to the protection of the nose and the mouth. Scarves are allowed.
The German health authority urged the population to remain cautious in the face of the pandemic. The federal government and the regions are due to take stock again on Thursday in view of decisions expected for May 6 on possible deconfinement measures.
