Every day, Le Parisien mobilizes to answer your questions around the coronavirus. Today we are interested in the question of a reader who asks us whether in the capital, the Galeries Lafayette and Printemps Haussmann will be able to open their doors.
At the executive press conference on Thursday, May 7, Bruno Le Maire welcomed the reopening of non-food businesses from May 11. The Minister of Economy and Finance had, in the process, announced that the reopening of shopping centers of more than 40,000 m2 is possible, provided that the approval of the prefecture is obtained.
Prefectural decision
The case of Ile-de-France, which concerns the question of our reader, differs somewhat. The government has indeed decided that the largest centers could not reopen for the moment. Some doubts persisted concerning Galeries Lafayette and Printemps Haussmann. In recent days, the management of the Galleries said for example to Les Echos to do everything possible to allow the reopening, working on the safety of its employees and future customers.
The police headquarters finally decided to remove all ambiguity. In a press release published this Friday, May 8, the authorities decided not to authorize the reopening of these two establishments. The same is true in the capital for the Forum des Halles, the Beaugrenelle and Italy 2 centers.
The progressive lifting of the containment having been confirmed, May 11 marks the beginning of a new phase in the fight against # COVID19.
