The Renault factory in Sandouville (Seine-maritime) will reopen Friday morning, two weeks after being forced by the courts to close due to measures deemed insufficient in the face of the Covid-19, FO and CFE-CGC told Wednesday AFP.

According to these two unions, management announced the reopening at a CSE held Wednesday morning in Sandouville. The site has 1,848 permanent employees.
“ It starts again from the night of Thursday to Friday. It's eight days worked lost just for formalism, ”added Gilles Henri CFF-CGC delegate to Renault Sandouville. For Gilles Henri as for Fabien Gloaguen, FO delegate, the site's second union, the announcement of the reopening is " a relief ". " The health protocol has not changed an iota, " said Fabien Gloaguen.
" We just added a line on the analysis of psychosocial risks on this document " (the health protocol, editor's note), said Gilles Henri. For Mr. Gloaguen, this reopening " will bring 700 families out of poverty ". According to him, 700 temporary workers will gradually return to work in the coming days. The Le Havre court condemned Renault on May 7 “ to suspend the resumption of production ” at Sandouville, “ this resumption does not ensure the health and safety of workers at the factory in the face of the risk associated with the Covid- 19 ".
The factory had partially resumed its activity on April 28 after having stopped it on March 16 because of the epidemic. Renault Sandouville has also been the subject of a preliminary investigation opened for several months by the Havre public prosecutor's office for abusive use of temporary workers. 15% owned by the French state, the Renault group is due to unveil on May 29 the outlines of a vast 2 billion-euro savings plan announced in February.
