Oil prices rose today and US crude futures ended in May with record monthly gains.
Reuters reported that West Texas Intermediate crude futures for July delivery were settled at $ 35.49 a barrel, as it jumped $ 1.78, or 5.3 percent.
Brent crude for July delivery closed at $ 35.33 a barrel, up four cents, but the most active August contracts ended the session at $ 37.84 a barrel, up $ 1.81, or nearly five percent.
West Texas Intermediate recorded the largest monthly increase ever at 88 percent, after trading last month with negative values, while Brent recorded an increase of about 40 percent, the largest monthly increase since March 1999.
