They are suspected of having diverted Ikea furniture to resell it under the coat. A professional delivery man and his partner must appear in court Monday after being arrested Thursday in Montpellier, reported this weekend the regional daily Midi Libre . Both are prosecuted for breach of trust and concealment. They risk up to 5 years in prison and a fine of 375,000 euros.

Their operating mode was well established: he worked for an Ikea subcontracting company, responsible for delivering customers, and claimed that the products were damaged at the time of delivery. The suspect then recovered the goods and stored them for resale. For its part, the customer made a complaint to the furniture brand and had it delivered again.

The couple then posted classified ads on the Snapchat social network and sold the new merchandise. It was finally a manager of the Montpellier store who discovered their scheme and filed a complaint in December 2019. The police investigation made it possible to trace the two suspects. During the searches, the investigators found a hundred items in a box.

If the couple admitted the facts, they defended themselves from having recovered new furniture. What seems false, according to Midi Libre. They would have made at least 10,000 euros in profits thanks to their scheme.
