Stress in business, a subject that remains taboo

More than half of French people are affected. The crisis should not help matters.


It is a subject that French employees prefer to avoid… Only 15% of them say they are ready to confide their unhappiness at work and their stress to their manager. A percentage that even goes down to 9% when it comes to discussing this problem with the human resources department of their company, according to a study by ADP which questioned 1,916 people in France. Despite several attempts by employers to tackle these taboos, there is still a long way to go before having open conversations on the subject. Discussing your health at work remains difficult, either for fear that it will harm your career, or because of cultural sensitivities, ”explains Carlos Fontelas De Carvalho, President of ADP in France.
