During the meeting held at the Ministry of Agriculture today, it was decided to form 6 specialized working groups to study the difficulties encountered by poultry breeders, including production costs and the mechanism for obtaining agricultural loans, in addition to drafting a work plan and providing possible solutions to what the poultry sector is going through and for the benefit of producers and consumers.

Poultry farmers and workers in this sector emphasized the necessity of organizing and restructuring to ensure the stability of production in the market on the one hand, and the right of producers to acceptable profit margins on the other hand, especially as the poultry sector secures basic needs for citizens in terms of meat and eggs.

The participants emphasized the need for coordination and cooperation between breeders to reach a price compatible with acceptable profit margins, to achieve a balance between the right of the producer and an appropriate price for the consumer.

The Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Eng. Muhammad Hassan Qatana, stated in a press statement that the goal of the meeting is to organize the breeding and production process and come out with positive results that are quickly reflected on the market and prices and are touched by the citizen, stressing that the ministry seeks to enhance the presence of breeders in the market and not their loss, but on the condition that a balance is achieved to maintain the productive chain Because in wars and crises, work is terminated according to the concept of supply and demand, and cooperation and coordination is to achieve the public interest in light of the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on the Syrian people.

Minister Qatana explained that the formed work teams will hold their meetings for a period of a week and their outputs will be discussed with the government to come up with an action plan entitled “Promoting and stabilizing the poultry sector,” which are working groups specialized in fodder, grandmothers and broiler chickens, slaughterhouses, marketing, pricing, and the issue of organization and management, and through which a plan will be developed to overcome these difficulties, calling on the producers of soy. And poultry breeders to establish a qualitative union or a joint-stock company to import fodder that would contribute to supporting the breeders and providing for their needs and achieving stability in prices in addition to the continuous government support for this sector.

It is noteworthy that during the last period there has been a significant increase in the prices of broiler and table eggs due to the increase in feed prices and some difficulties faced by poultry farmers financially, productively and marketing.
