The Paris Fair and the Autumn Fair will not take place this year due to the Covid-19 epidemic and are postponed to 2021, their organizers said on Tuesday.

In view of the various changes in regulations linked to the management of the health crisis and its consequences, it is with great regret that the Foire d'Automne and Foire de Paris announce that the special edition of the Foire d'automne - Foire Paris (...) will not be held on the dates scheduled,

”said a press release.

Initially scheduled from April 30 to May 11, the Paris Fair had been postponed twice and was scheduled to take place from Friday October 23 to Sunday November 1, at the same time as the Autumn Fair.

Nearly 500,000 visitors last year

The next edition of the Paris Fair is finally postponed from April 29 to May 10, 2021 and the autumn edition “

on the usual dates in 2021

”, ie at the end of October.

Last year, the Paris Fair, which hosts the famous Lépine inventors competition, attracted 486,000 visitors and generated a total of 184 million euros in expenses in twelve days.

On Monday, the Marseille Fair was also canceled, following the decision of the prefect of Bouches-des-Rhône to strengthen measures to limit the spread of the virus in the region.

In a press release published Tuesday, the management of Chanot Parc Expo "took

note

" of the decision and regretted "

that an essential event for the Marseille economy cannot be held

".

In France, the events sector, which brings together the organizers of some 1,200 shows and fairs, generates 4.3 billion euros in annual turnover and represents some 14,700 jobs, according to INSEE.

The sector also supports event agencies, hostesses, butlers, security, audiovisual, cleaning companies, caterers, decorators ...

The sector is severely affected by the health crisis due to the limitations of gatherings taken by the government to fight against the Covid-19 epidemic.
