Until the early 2010s, the place was the flagship destination for fine food in Paris.

In 2011, Carrefour even imagined opening a high-end concept of halls there, to compete with the two most icons of French gastronomy.

The project never saw the light of day.

Finally, a Leroy Merlin took its place, in 2018. In the meantime, the Madeleine had already lost part of its soul, its consistency and its style.

Taken over by an Austrian group following the bankruptcy filing in 2015, Hédiard closed
