The federal government is making 64.5 billion euros available for the next four years for the integration of refugees and above all for combating the causes of displacement.
This emerges from a list by the Federal Ministry of Finance, as SPIEGEL reports in its current issue.
Finance Minister Olaf Scholz plans 20.1 billion euros for 2021 and 16.4 billion euros for the following year.
Another 16.2 billion euros are planned for 2023, before spending on asylum seekers drops to 11.8 billion euros in 2024.
Most of the money is to be spent on combating the causes of flight in the countries of origin of the asylum seekers, which will amount to 25.4 billion euros by 2024.
22.9 billion euros are earmarked for social benefits for refugees.
The federal government plans to provide 8.2 billion euros over the period for integration measures, such as language courses.
The federal government is relieving the municipalities with a further 4.4 billion euros.
In 2015 and 2016, more than a million asylum seekers came to Germany.
Since then, the federal government has provided money every year to finance the accommodation of the refugees and to promote their integration into the economy and society.
