The metropolis of Aix-Marseille and Guadeloupe were classified Wednesday in "maximum alert zone", the last level before the state of health emergency, according to the new classification of the authorities.
Consequence: bars and restaurants will have to close completely from Saturday, as well as all "
establishments open to the public
", except those which have a "
strict health protocol
", such as theaters, museums or cinemas.
This measure "
is for 15 days, and we hope that we can reopen in 15 days,
" said Jean Castex Thursday evening on France 2.
Forcefully denouncing a "collective punishment" and a "disaster", the elected officials of Marseille and its region affirmed their determination to prevent this closure of bars and restaurants from Saturday, including in court.
Furious, some restaurateurs have already hinted that they would not respect the obligation to close from Saturday.
But the discontent is not limited to Marseille.
Bars and restaurants will have to close at 10 pm from Monday in 11 metropolises, including Paris, Lyon or Nice, all in "enhanced alert zone".
