Regulated gas sales tariffs will increase.

Applied by Engie to millions of French households, they will jump 4.7% this Thursday, October 1, announces the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE), according to a calculation that takes into account the distribution of consumer uses.

“This increase is 1.2% for customers who use gas for cooking, 2.6% for those who have dual use, cooking and hot water, and 4.9% for homes that heat themselves. gas ”, details the regulator.

The increase "is explained in particular by strong demand, at the approach of winter, in Asia, the United States and Europe", explains CRE.

It follows a period of falling prices until the summer.

CRE warned at the beginning of June of sharp price increases in the second half of the year in the wake of the rebound in gas prices.

A mechanism was thus put in place until February 2021 to smooth their development.

Without this mechanism, the increase would have been even greater and would have reached 7% in October.
