Is there blood on the hands of German savers?
Thomas Küchenmeister, head of the Facing Finance Association in Berlin, does not want to go that far.
Nevertheless, he says: "Bank and insurance customers benefit indirectly from wars such as the one in Yemen."
The United Nations calls the consequences of the fighting between rebels and a coalition led by Saudi Arabia in the desperately poor desert state the "worst humanitarian crisis in the world".
Millions of people in Yemen are starving.
Defense companies like BAE Systems apparently delivered weapons to countries of the Saudi war coalition until at least 2018, at least according to the research by Facing Finance and other organizations for the report "Dirty Profits 7".
And many financial institutions, including German ones, invest in such companies or provide them with financing.
BAE Systems itself speaks of "defense equipment, training and support" for Saudi Arabia under agreements between the Saudi and British governments - which also control the company's operations.
Many German savers still want nothing to do with such business.
