Ms. Riesenberg, in the Corona year 2020, many people will work partly or wholly in the home office.
How does this affect the tax return?
Riesenberg:
That can have a very positive effect.
If you have your own study, you can bill the costs pro rata.
The same applies to the costs of office supplies, a new computer or training.
Single parents also get a lot of relief.
We have calculated an example according to which an employee with a gross income of 50,000 euros pays a total of 1543 euros less in taxes through her work in the home office and the increased relief amount for single parents.

What are the tax advantages of single parents?
Riesenberg:
They were specifically relieved this year because they were very burdened by closed schools and daycare centers.
The allowances have been more than doubled for this and the next year - from 1908 to 4008 euros.
SPIEGEL: For most people,
the biggest job is the study.
But many do not have their own space to work.
Is it enough for the tax office if I do my job at the kitchen table?
