The French digital bank has joined forces with Ria Money Transfer, the rival of Western Union, which has 435,000 branches in more than 150 countries.

Nickel expands its offer and seeks to compete with Western Union.

From this Tuesday, the French digital bank distributed in tobacco shops allows its customers to send money abroad instantly.

“This is the first time that a neobank has incorporated into its application the possibility of making cash transfers to more than 150 countries

,” explains Marie Degrand-Guillaud, Deputy Director of Nickel.

Our goal is to simplify the uses around the bank account. ”

The BNP Paribas subsidiary, which claims 1.8 million open accounts, has partnered with Ria Money Transfer, the rival of Western Union, which has 435,000 branches in more than 150 countries, in which the money will be collected.

Nickel is also allied with Monisnap, a finance start-up specializing in

“financial services to diasporas”.

We are responding to a request from our customers,”

emphasizes Marie Degrand-Guillaud.

In the current context, family solidarity is very important. ”

Nickel, a third of whose customers are banned from banking, thus meets the needs of immigrants, part of the family living outside of France.

The service can help parents whose child is studying abroad, or a destitute tourist after losing (or having been stolen) his bank card.

“The service is secure and provides for mechanisms to combat the financing of terrorism,”

points out Marie Degrand-Guillaud.

In a few weeks, during November, Nickel will cross borders for the first time and launch in Spain, where its basic account will be distributed in

400 lottery or tobacco offices.
