Google is the largest advertising company in the world.

The huge amount of revenue that it obtains from that business allows it to achieve the primacy in other services such as maps, videos or virtual assistance from which it obtains more data to improve its core business.

The company has reached such a volume that its power threatens the principles of free markets, according to US supervisors.

The company has multiple investigations open on both sides of the Atlantic and racks up record fines from European supervisors.

Just one year ago, 48 US attorneys general - all except California and Alabama - formalized the investigation against the Mountain View (California) firm for its dominant position in the online advertising market.

Most support the complaint filed yesterday by the attorney general, but keep their own investigation open.

Some state attorneys, led by Phil Weiser, the Colorado attorney general would be studying the possibility of expanding the lawsuit.

Two weeks ago, the United States Congress closed the investigation into monopoly of the Silicon Valley giants, among which Google stands out.

The House of Representatives concluded after more than 15 months of arraignments and inquiries that these tech giants used "aggressive procurement" tactics to wipe out the competition, applying abusive fees and forcing small businesses to sign "oppressive" contracts on behalf of the Benefits.

Congress, which has studied the possibility of chopping up these corporations to limit their power - in the style of Big Oil in the 1970s - calls for tougher laws to control these companies.

"To put it simply, companies that were just starting out and challenged the

status quo

have become the kind of monopolies we saw in the era of the oil barons and railroad tycoons," the report from the congressmen who analyzed more than 1.3 million documents and conducted more than 300 interviews

In Europe they are also in focus.

The European Commission investigates Google for the job search service.

It also reviews Google's purchase of sports services technology firm Fitbit because it fears it will "further strengthen its position in the online advertising markets, increasing the volume of data that Google could use to personalize its advertising."

Brussels has already imposed three million dollar fines on Google for a total amount of 8,250 million euros.

The most important, at 4.35 billion, was the record fine for Android domain abuse.

The most recent, of almost 1,500 million, was last year for dominance position in the advertising market through its Google AdSense platform.
