2020-10-31T09:14:32.080Z

Rise in gas and cigarette prices, cap on bank charges, freeze on the revaluation of Agirc-Arrco supplementary pensions

In addition to the containment measures, several changes will intervene in our daily life.

Overview of the main measures that will apply from November 1.

Increase in the pack of cigarettes.

The government's objective is to arrive at a pack of cigarettes at 10 euros.

Some brands have already reached this threshold.

For others, the increases will average 50 cents.

Thus a package of Winston will go from 9.50 euros to 10 euros.

The Marlboro packet will be displayed at 10.40 euros… Note that roll-your-own tobacco will also increase with an increase of around one euro.

In three years, with regular and successive increases, the price of the package has increased by around 3 euros, from 7 to 10 euros.

Perhaps the opportunity to quit smoking knowing that the date of November 1st also marks the first day of “Tobacco Free Month”.

The price of gas on the rise.

Engie's regulated tariffs net of tax will increase by 1.6% on November 1 compared to October.

In detail, gas will increase by 0.4% for households that use it for cooking, by 0.9% for those using it for cooking and hot water, and by 1.7% for those who heat with gas.

This new increase comes at a time when regulated gas prices are doomed to disappear, since the Energy and Climate law adopted in 2019. Engie has ceased to market new contracts at regulated sales tariffs (TRV) since November 2019. However, if you have an Engie contract, don't panic.

It remains valid “until June 30, 2023 for individuals”.

Beginning of the winter break.

With the start of the winter break, landlords can no longer evict their tenants.

There are however three exceptions: if the tenant is relocated, if the accommodation is subject to a peril or if it is the subject of a squat.

Note that gas and electricity cuts are also prohibited throughout the truce.

This truce will last for five months.

Freezing of the Agirc-Arrco supplementary pension.

Bad news.

Traditionally, the supplementary pensions of former private sector employees are revalued on this date.

The board of directors of Agirc-Arrco has decided to freeze this revaluation.

For two reasons.

The first is technical: this revaluation is calculated on the evolution of inflation or the level is low.

But above all, the health crisis has lowered the level of contributions.

This compulsory supplementary scheme should show a deficit in 2020 of around 6 and 8 billion.

Lower bank charges for fragile customers.

For customers subject to five banking irregularities or incidents during the same month, bank charges will now be capped.

Thus, fragile customers with an over-indebtedness file in progress or registered for three months with the Banque de France will benefit from the ceiling of 25 euros per month for a fixed period of three months.

Aid of 150 euros paid at the end of November to 1.1 million young people.

Jean Castex announced exceptional aid of 150 euros for the 40,000 young beneficiaries of APLs and the 70,000 scholarship students.

The government tightens the rules of the personal training account (CPF) for the driving license.

To avoid certain abuses with employees who used the CPF to carry out training courses to recover points on the driving license, the government has tightened the rules.

From now on, candidates will have to register with an organization specializing in "driving education for a fee and raising awareness of road safety" with prefectural approval.

And motorcycle, scooter, boat or tractor licenses will no longer be eligible for the CPF.

Don't forget to pay your council tax.

Small reminder, you only have a few days left to pay the housing tax.

People paying by TIP or check have until November 16, while those paying electronically have until November 21.

The direct debit will be made on a bank account from November 26.

This tax concerns 20% households.

New energy labels on household appliances.

These labels will give an A to G rating on the power consumption of your device.

This label will also indicate the sound level of the equipment but will also have a QR code for more detailed information on the product.

Partial unemployment rules maintained.

Due to the second wave of the coronavirus, the terms of partial unemployment are maintained until December 31. As during the first confinement, employees placed in traditional partial unemployment will therefore remain compensated up to 70% of their gross salary (or even 100% if they are paid the minimum wage). At the same time, employers will be reimbursed for 85% of this allowance, i.e. a remainder of 15% (except in sectors subject to administrative closure (restaurants, bars, non-essential shops, etc.). partial unemployment will be fully covered by the State and Unedic.
