The Federal Ministry of Finance wants to further develop the bridging aid for companies and self-employed who are particularly suffering from the Corona measures for the period after November.

There should then be "what has already existed - but improved again," said Federal Finance Minister Olaf Scholz (SPD) to the ZDF "Morgenmagazin".

The federal government has earmarked up to ten billion euros for the new aid in November.

Scholz expects the "new normal" to continue well into the coming year.

However, the government had the Bundestag make large funds available to cushion the economic consequences.

"We have the strength to stabilize the economy and jobs for this year and next," he said.

The help should benefit as many people affected as possible.

"Everyone is being thought of," said Scholz.

They also want to help certain industries better than has been the case so far.

He named the event and showman industry as examples.

Extensive contact restrictions have been in effect in Germany since Monday due to the rapidly increasing number of infections.

Gastronomic establishments and leisure facilities have to close temporarily.

Affected smaller businesses are to be compensated with 75 percent of the turnover from November 2019.

Internet platform for requests for assistance in progress

For solo self-employed with fluctuating sales, an orientation on the annual average of the monthly income should be possible, said Scholz.

People who started their business later should also be able to set a reference month from the current year instead of November 2019.

Retailers who are affected by the drop in demand in the cities due to the contact restrictions but are not receiving any new help are now also calling for relief, for example at Sunday openings.

From when the help will be available, Scholz did not specify.

"We're trying to get all the clarifications through this week."

The programs would then have to be developed so that assistance can be requested via an Internet platform.
