President Alberto Fernández's warning regarding the application of the Supply Law due to shortages in the Construction industry, exposed a situation that extends to other products on the market with significant absences in stores.
This spectrum includes
not only bricks, cement and steel but also food and pharmaceutical products.
In the Construction sector, the lack of delivery of inputs occurs in a context of recovery in the sector.
Partly because of the
convenience of building prices that encouraged activity,
but also because - in view of the impossibility of accessing the purchase of dollars - many consumers and construction companies chose to capitalize on bricks.
A few days ago, the Chamber of Construction (CAMARCO) released a survey among its partners that raised the sector's concern about the
lack of inputs.
In a survey of 144 people, it was found that the largest missing were in round steel, cement, galvanized sheet metal and hollow bricks.
According to Pedro Brandi, president of Grupo Construya, which groups together the main manufacturers of this type of input, the first reason for the lack of materials is the effect of
sanitary measures due to the pandemic:
“There is still up to 30% less personnel and that affects the operation ”.
“Another thing that affects is that during the quarantine, companies and businesses
exhausted their stocks
.
This coincides with a context of high demand.
"People ask for more than they need in fear of not getting the product and on the other hand, the construction companies also
stockpile to avoid undercapitalization," he
explains.
According to Brandi,
what is most lacking is steel,
which is highly dependent on scrap, in turn reduced by the pandemic and the recessive process.
Also
bricks.
And, to a lesser extent,
cement
.
In this case, the inputs have an imbalance in demand since a lot of cement is required in bags and less in bulk, due to the scarce public works.
Also in
the pharmaceutical industry
, the "no stock" is a hose that wiggles between the shelves of the shops.
"Missing product" is the argument that merchants receive from suppliers and drug stores.
The
alcohol gel (effect coronavirus) and bleach
were the subject of the list to the start of quarantine.
But as the days went by, a lack of products began to be registered, in high demand, in
Care Prices and pharmacies.
“We were restocking the items as they were sold until we decided to acquire second brands to supply the strong demand.
But these elements also began to be scarce, ”says Axel Martínez, in charge of the Soy Pharmacy, located in Santa Fe and Uriburu.
There
are fewer than 15 containers for sale in the
insect repellent shelf
.
They even share a place with Lysoform, the disinfectant that represents the most complicated picture in terms of shortages.
Among the products that make up
the Care Price list
,
Sunflower
Florence
oil
and Every Day x 1500 cc;
Shimy milk desserts, Vida low-fat drinkable yogurt;
the
yerba mate
Rosamonte;
the Familiar Veneziana lactal bread;
the repellent Aerosol Fuyi;
the
grated cheese
and antibacterial hand soap are some of the missing justified between 23 and 29 November in Coto Street branch of French.
“The complete list was notified to the Ministry of Internal Trade.
You will not find them in gondolas because
the merchandise was not delivered by the suppliers ”
, explains branch personnel.
In other markets, such as the Plaza Vea de Barracas, there are empty, incomplete gondolas, with empty spaces where you can see the package of a solitary lactal bread or four stacked yogurt sachets with nothing else around.
Or simply, there is the “Careful Prices” sign without any kind of content that completes its meaning.
“There is no shortage, but some products are missing or replaced by another with different characteristics.
In general, super
brands
like Coto or Carrefour changed the
trend from first brands to second or third
.
Containers of 500 gr decreased and are marketed at 400 gr.
Even brands and packaging were modified, avoiding the breach of Careful Prices ”, denounces Héctor Polino, founder and representative of Consumidores Libres.
