2020-12-03T11:03:46.175Z

The summary procedure is notably defended by the departments of Isère, Savoie and Haute-Savoie as well as the mayors of the resorts and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

This is one more challenge, adding to an already long list.

This Wednesday, several public actors and representatives of the mountain professions announced the filing of a summary to the Council of State to obtain the rapid reopening of the ski lifts, closed by the government.

This summary brings together many local authorities, including the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, chaired by Republican heavyweight Laurent Wauquiez, as well as the departments of Isère, Savoie and Haute-Savoie.

Also joining the national association of mayors of mountain resorts, ski areas of France and representatives of ski instructors as high mountain guides.

While the executive does not intend to reopen this equipment dedicated to ski lovers before January, opponents report "

the incomprehension

" that this decision arouses among local actors.

The closure of ski lifts is "

not consistent

", while other activities are reopening and public transport is active, they argue.

It is also "

disproportionate

": "

other solutions exist and in particular strict health protocols without going as far as prohibition

", add the supporters of the summary.

In addition, Emmanuel Macron's wish to dissuade the French wishing to go skiing abroad by the end of the year does not win the support of these representatives: "

Randomly control people who go skiing abroad is obviously not a response equal to the thousands of jobs threatened in our mountains,

”they sanction in a press release.

Battle for a reopening of all ski lifts in France

The representatives therefore intend to request the reopening of all ski lifts in France as soon as possible.

They also wish to continue the dialogue with the authorities to advance this highly conflictual issue: "

We have tried and we are still trying to change national positions in a spirit of dialogue, but without any concrete progress at this stage

", they regret. .

Mountain stakeholders are not the only ones to appeal to the Council of State.

The appeals have multiplied in recent weeks, among restaurateurs, managers of sports halls or representatives of places of worship.

The opposition of local elected officials to the closure of ski lifts is not a surprise: “

crowding into the metro, yes.

Go to closed rooms, too.

But skiing at Christmas, no.
