Medium-sized companies alienate with corona bureaucracy

Fast and unbureaucratic? According to a survey, very few medium-sized companies perceive the Corona aid. However, most of them are not affected by the current forced closings.

Representatives of the middle class are dissatisfied with the corona aid from the federal government.

In a survey of around 1200 responding companies, only 3.7 percent said they found the November aid to be unbureaucratic and uncomplicated.

18.4 percent say the opposite.

Almost 78 percent have not yet applied for support.

According to the survey, only 12.3 percent of medium-sized companies are directly affected by the forced closings in November, and another 19.8 percent indirectly.

More than two thirds are not affected by the measures, which have already been extended into January.

"The promised Corona aid has not yet reached most medium-sized companies," said Markus Jerger from the BVMW SME Association, who had the survey carried out among its member companies.

The Association of Family Entrepreneurs sees it similarly: President Reinhold von Eben-Worlée refers to Federal Economics Minister Peter Altmaier (CDU) and Finance Minister Olaf Scholz (SPD), who had promised quick payments.

"The opposite was and is the case."

Companies affected by the partial shutdown in November are to have three quarters of their previous year's sales replaced - according to the government's generous promise.

That should cost the federal government around 15 billion euros.

However, applications were only possible from the end of November - and initially only a small down payment of 10,000 euros per company is paid.

That is too late and too little, has been the criticism for weeks.

Altmaier is therefore now examining higher advance payments.

More than 100,000 applications submitted

According to his ministry, more than 102,000 applications for November aid have been made so far - around 30 percent from self-employed people, the rest from companies.

According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, advance payments have already been initiated for almost 75 percent of the applications from companies.

The corona policy divides the middle class overall.

4.7 percent of the companies consider it very good and 22.9 percent good.

A good 30 percent give a satisfactory grade.

19.2 percent of medium-sized companies consider them bad, 22.9 percent even very bad.

"The federal government would be well advised to involve medium-sized businesses more closely and in good time in the work of the Corona cabinet in accordance with their importance," said Jerger.
