After a tough start, the US stock exchanges rose to new records in the course of trading on Tuesday.

As so often in the past weeks, there was tailwind from news in the development of corona vaccines.

The leading index Dow Jones rose 0.35 percent to 30,173.88 points.

Like the technology-heavy Nasdaq 100 and the market-wide S&P 500, it reached an all-time high.

A few days before the expected decision on an emergency approval in the USA, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued the corona vaccine from the Mainz-based pharmaceutical company Biontech and its US partner Pfizer with its first good certificate.

Just ten days after the first dose of the vaccine, there is strong protection against the Covid-19 disease, according to documents published by the FDA.

There are no major security concerns, it said.

The S&P 500 rose 0.28 percent to 3702.25 points.

The Nasdaq 100 gained 0.31 percent to 12,635.72 points.

Tesla's shares defied another capital increase and rose by more than one percent after initial losses.

They passed the $ 650 mark for the first time.

The electric car maker is using the record run of shares to get up to five billion US dollars of fresh capital by issuing new shares.

It is the third such step this year.

The company needs a lot of money to expand.

In the current year alone, the share price has increased almost eightfold.

Fedex stocks rose 1.5 percent to a record high.

The papers of the logistics service provider have been benefiting from strong online shopping in the USA for weeks, recently spurred on by the Christmas business.

The FedEx rate has more than doubled since the end of June alone.
