"soft, biased and oriented"

.

The Anses health agency announced in October restrictions on the use of this weedkiller for viticulture, arboriculture or cereals, which will come into force within six months.

"This will lead in 2021 to eliminate between 60 and 80% of the uses of glyphosate"

, which should allow France to be

"leader at European level on the glyphosate exit strategy"

, argued the press to the press. “Walker” Jean-Baptiste Moreau, co-rapporteur of an information mission on the subject.

The other rapporteur, Jan-Luc Fugit, for his part estimated that the new use bans

"should lead us to 50% less use of glyphosate in 2021 compared to 2017"

.

In a statement, the rebellious deputies judged that their report is

"riddled with lies, approximations and renouncements"

.

“Its unique and initial vocation is to bury the promise of a total exit from glyphosate,”

they say.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon's group

“reaffirms the need for a rapid and planned exit from glyphosate as from the entire agro-industrial model infused with pesticides”

.

Support for "additional costs"

At the beginning of December, Emmanuel Macron admitted that he had not succeeded in keeping his promise to get out of glyphosate in three years, pleading a

"collective"

failure

.

The Elysée recently indicated that the president wanted to bring the issue to the European level, where for the moment only Luxembourg has committed to do without glyphosate by the end of 2020. According to an evaluation by ANSES, glyphosate can most often be replaced, in particular by mechanical means (manual weeding, dedicated machines, etc.) even if this entails a need for additional labor.

“National solidarity must take care of the additional cost”

in the event of renouncing glyphosate, according to Jean-Baptiste Moreau, himself a farmer by profession.

His colleague Jan-Luc Fugit wanted the tax credit voted in early December to encourage farmers to get out of glyphosate to be

“extended”

to mixed farming operations (dairy farmers who cultivate cereals to feed their livestock).

It targets permanent crops (viticulture, arboriculture) and field crops.
