A year and a half after a software officer in his 30s died of cancer due to a delay in the discovery of the disease by military doctors, the Ministry of Defense did everything not to acknowledge responsibility and also took him 9 months to recognize the widow as a bereaved woman.

The software officer complained about simulated exits and the military doctors repeatedly determined that he was suffering from hemorrhoids and prescribed him paraffin oil, sitting in hot tubs and fibrous food.

Only a few years after his first complaint, a gastrologist sent him for a colonoscopy, in which he was diagnosed with cancer.

The cancer was discovered in stage 3 and the officer had to undergo a number of surgeries that included resection of many parts of the gastrointestinal tract, while at the same time health metastases were detected.

Despite the medical omission, the Compensation Officer at the Ministry of Defense was unwilling to recognize him as an IDF invalid on the grounds that there was no connection between his military service and cancer.

The Court ruled that the delay in diagnosis of cancer of the officer, a direct link military service, causing worsening of the disease by 85%. The court further ruled that the officer rewards to pay 25,000 shekels to cover the legal costs of the officer.

When the officer was in a terminal state, a few days before he died The Compensation Officer appealed to the District Court against the appeal, but the District Court also ruled that the delay in diagnosing the cancer contributed to the aggravation of the disease. Please recognize her as an IDF widow.

It took the Ministry of Defense another 9 months and these days decided to recognize the status quo.

Following the recognition, his widow and young son will receive benefits and rights from the Ministry of Defense.
